Aren't kid birthday parties so much fun!

On Saturday we attended a birthday party for one of Chris' friends little boys, Seby, who was turning two. We weren't quite sure what to expect because we had lost touch with them and had not seen Seby since he was born. But we thought, what the heck, it'll be fun for the kids, right. The weather was beautiful so the event was held outdoors in his parents backyard. I have to say this party really tested my mommy patience. First, while Colby was making his "create your own superhero's T shirt" he accidentally got paint on his brand new shirt. Normally I wouldn't care but this is one of the more expensive shirts I have ever bought him. One of those purchases I was able to talk Chris into by explaining how much I would be able to sell it for on Ebay once the boys were finished with it. Well, not anymore! Then while eating a snack Cameron spilled red kool aid all over his light colored cargo pants. I mean there was more kool aid spilled on the pants then there were clean spots on the pants. I just had to take a deep breath and remember that the season is almost over he won't be needing those pants much longer.

Next it was time to play break the Pinata. Once they got all the kids lined up by height I was trying to keep my two from getting hit with the bat. After Cameron took his turn, and a good one at that, I turned my back for two seconds and turned back around to Colby crying. Apparently the kid in front of him hit him in the eye with his wicked backswing. After putting Colby on my lap and trying to look at it I could see some blood below his eye. Since he wasn't able to open it I got really nervous because I couldn't tell where the blood was coming from. Finally, after about 5 minutes he declared himself well enough to do the Pinata. The only blood was a cut right below his left eye.

After the Pinata fun Colby was off to play in the only tree in the backyard. About 10 minutes later he came bellyaching about falling out of the tree. Sure enough there were scraps all down both of his arms from his fall. Oh well, boys will be boys, right! Our final semi catastrophe of the day was Cameron again. He enjoyed his cake so much that the rest of his pants got covered in red icing. I think he did this just to ensure that there was no salvaging those pants. For those that know me, you know I can't stand for my kids to be dirty or hurt and this party was filled with both PAIN and lots of RED mess. Oh well, at least we had some good quality time with the boys and the party was actually really fun!

Kids' clothes can be so frustrating. They are always dirty! I sometimes feel like just not doing the laundry since they are only clean for about 5 minutes despite my best effort. Oxy Clean spray would probably take out the red on Cameron's pants. I'm big into using that. It's a lifesaver!
