Colby's First Supercross

On Saturday Colby got the chance to attend his very first Supecross at Rice Eccles stadium.  A good friend of mine, from my former life in Missouri, travels around with the circuit and builds tracks for the races and was able to get us three tickets.  Chris and I have been to races before but this time we decided it would be fun to take Colby.  Over the last week I had been you tubing motorcycle races so he could see what he was in for and he was really excited!

On Saturday we woke up to a steady rain and it continued off and on all day.  Just as we were about to leave the rain started pouring but we headed out anyway.  We dropped Cameron off with Jason and headed to the stadium.  Since we were running a little late we ended up having to park downtown and take Trax to the stadium.  The Trax train we were on was so full of people that it could not stop to pick people up at the remaining stops.  They just had to tell them, sorry, catch the next one.  When we got off Trax the rain stopped and the sun started peaking through.  It stayed that way and ended up being a gorgeous night.

Once we got there we immediately headed to our seats in the industry section.  One of our friends from work was there with his two boys and had saved us seats.  Almost immediately the opening ceremonies began with a lot of pyrotechnics which Colby did not like.  He buried his head in Chris the whole time.  Once the race started he loved it.  In fact, we tried to go get something to eat in between races and Colby started freaking out that he was going to miss the race so I headed back with him while Chris got our food.  

We had a great time and it was nice to be able to spend some quality time with Colby by himself.  I would venture to bet that we will be attending more races in the future!
